Tuberculosis - A pharmacist's thoughts

Dallas Smith

Abstract

Tuberculosis has continued to evade eradication and inflict humanity for the better part of the human race's existence. These thoughts from a pharmacist experiencing tuberculosis in parts of the developing world, Cambodia and India, highlight just a few of the barriers that health care professionals need to overcome in resource limited settings. These include addressing misconceptions about adherence to tuberculosis medications, equitable access to new diagnosing technology, and confronting the health inequalities that exist on this planet. The health care community will need to revamp their commitment to those accompanying patients in these settings to achieve a world without tuberculosis.
