Decreased life expectancy in the United States
Abstract
Many studies, reports, and articles have recently been published regarding the decreasing life expectancy in the United States. While looking at the overall number is important, it is also imperative to evaluate the specific causes of the decline, how the U.S. compares to its international counterparts, and specific disparities among different groups. This article compiles this information after critical evaluation of recent publications. Evaluating suggestions for improvement on the current system to combat the continuing decrease in life expectancy is also an important aspect to consider after looking at the numbers. Several suggestions for improvement are also compiled and described.
