An Analysis of the Overall Health Status of Lawrence County, Ohio

Donald W. Stansloski, Laura Mako, Kyle Yoder

Abstract

This study examines one county in Ohio to identify that population’s health problems, focusing on those health issues that might be managed by a pharmacist. The study was done on one county at increased risk of adverse health events in order to limit the scope of work. Data from the Center for Disease Control and other population resources were used to identify the Ohio county with the most morbidity and mortality from diseases amenable to pharmacist management. This study demonstrates a clear need for pharmacist provided medication therapy management services in Lawrence County. It seems clear that such care will be well received.
